Our philosophy

Find the fragments.
See the whole.

A customer journey spread across five systems. A useful idea with no room to develop. A business spending more time managing its tools than doing its work.

Jimmy’s Umbrella Ventures exists to connect those pieces. We develop businesses with their own identities, supported by shared thinking about design, technology, and operations.

The umbrella is a working principle: give each venture space to grow, while building a stronger foundation beneath it.

Meet the Founder

Jimmy Marley

Founder, Jimmy’s Umbrella Ventures

A lifetime of creative thinking. Decades of business experience. An enduring curiosity about what comes next.

For more than three decades, Jimmy has built a career around a simple belief:

“the most meaningful innovations happen when creativity, technology, and a genuine understanding of people come together.”

An entrepreneur, creative strategist, and technology enthusiast, Jimmy’s experience spans business ownership, brand development, corporate innovation, software-enabled customer experiences, and hands-on business operations. His work has taken him from Silicon Valley’s creative and technology communities to sophisticated corporate environments, government-facing technology programs, and the everyday realities of retail and hospitality.

Throughout that journey, one principle has remained constant: technology should serve people, not the other way around.

From creative vision to real-world innovation

Jimmy’s entrepreneurial roots began in 1985. Through his creative businesses, including Just Imagine and Studio 21J, he helped organizations establish their identities, communicate their value, and build stronger customer relationships.

His work evolved alongside technology itself, from traditional branding and advertising to digital experiences, mobile applications, customer loyalty programs, and business analytics. Long before today’s conversations about intelligent automation, he was exploring ways to make sophisticated business capabilities more accessible, useful, and intuitive.

A significant chapter of his career unfolded at BAE Systems, where he spent more than a decade working across corporate marketing, business development, and technology innovation.

After leading marketing communications and branding initiatives for nationwide business divisions, Jimmy moved into the development of customer-facing Innovation Centers—environments designed to bring advanced technologies, research, and future capabilities to life.

His responsibilities extended from initial concepts and environmental design through technology integration, operational planning, program development, and executive and customer engagement. His work included Innovation Center initiatives across the United States, including San Diego, San Antonio, and Honolulu, helping organizations communicate complex capabilities through experiences that were both informative and engaging.

The experience reinforced a philosophy that continues to guide him: great ideas deserve more than impressive technology. They need thoughtful execution, clear communication, and an experience designed around the people who use them.

A perspective shaped by both sides of business

Beyond creative and corporate environments, Jimmy’s career includes retail leadership, hospitality, wine education, and direct customer engagement.

These experiences have provided something that cannot be learned from technology alone: an understanding of what happens when business systems meet the realities of everyday operations.

He has experienced the friction of disconnected tools, inefficient processes, limited reporting, and technology that complicates rather than simplifies work.

Those frustrations became opportunities.

They also helped shape the ideas behind Jimmy’s Umbrella Ventures.

The next chapter

Founded as a home for ideas with meaningful potential, Jimmy’s Umbrella Ventures brings together creative strategy, software development, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies under one vision.

Its ventures span winery operations, music, gaming, specialty coffee, intelligent business solutions, and explorations into spatial computing.

Though diverse in purpose, each reflects the same approach:

“identify a genuine opportunity, understand the people it affects, and create something thoughtful, useful, and beautifully executed.”

For Jimmy, JUV is more than a collection of businesses. It is the natural evolution of a career spent connecting disciplines, questioning convention, and finding new ways to make complex ideas work in the real world.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jimmy has a lifelong appreciation for music, design, technology, and the creative possibilities that emerge when different disciplines intersect. An avid explorer of new ideas and experiences, he draws inspiration from the world around him, bringing curiosity, imagination, and an unmistakably personal perspective to everything he creates. His commitment to meaningful connections also extends to community involvement and advocacy, reflecting a belief that success is measured not only by what we build, but by the positive impact we have on others.

Based on California’s Monterey Peninsula, he continues to pursue that work with an entrepreneur’s independence, a designer’s eye, and a belief that innovation is most valuable when it makes people’s lives better.
